Watch: Dhruv Jurel dropped twice by England fielders in Rajkot | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: In cricket, luck plays a big part. And when you are making your Test debut, you need all the luck in the world to settle your nerves.
Dhruv Jurel, who played quite a few nerveless shots in his debut innings on the second day of the third Test against England in Rajkot, was dropped not once, but twice by the England fielders as India looked to take their total over the 400-run mark.
On 32, Jurel hit a length delivery from Tom Hartley straight to Ollie Pope at short mid-wicket. Pope, who is reputed to be a fine fielder, dropped a simple catch, that went straight in and out.
Three overs later, Jurel, still on 32, flicked a delivery from Mark Wood straight to England captain Ben Stokes, who had positioned himself at leg slip for that shot. But to the shock of England fans, Stokes, who is a fine fielder, dropped a catch that should have been taken at the this level. The replays and Stokes’ reaction suggested that he did not get enough time to react.
Dhruv Jurel went on to score 14 more runs, falling for 46, after hitting 3 sixes and 2 fours and also took the Indian score over the 400-run mark.
India were bowled out for 445 runs in their first innings.
JioCinema, the official broadcaster, shared a video of the dropped catches on X:
