Ravichandran Ashwin breaks Anil Kumble’s record with two wickets in two balls | Cricket News

After England bowled India out for 307 on Sunday to take a 46-run first-innings lead on day three of the fourth Test at Ranchi, Ravichandran Ashwin rocked the visitors with three wickets, two of which came off consecutive balls that helped the veteran off-spinner go past spin legend Anil Kumble‘s record.
Before today, Kumble held the record for most wickets in Test matches played in India, which now stands in the name of Ashwin.
Kumble took 350 wickets in 63 matches, and Ashwin’s tally now reads 352 in 59 Tests.

Ashwin broke the record with wickets off consecutive balls, dismissing Ben Duckett (15) caught at short-leg by Sarfaraz Khan and Ollie Pope (0) dismissed lbw off the very next delivery.
Ashwin then added another wicket in the spell by taking out England’s first-innings centurion Joe Root, lbw for 11.
