Sameer Rizvi, CSK’s million-dollar signee, smashes triple ton in Colonel CK Nayudu Trophy |

NEW DELHI: Uttar Pradesh batsman Sameer Rizvi, who secured a million-dollar Indian Premier League (IPL) deal with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the previous year’s auctions, showcased his prowess by smashing a triple century during the Colonel CK Nayudu Trophy quarter-finals on Monday.
In the match against Saurashtra, Rizvi hammered an impressive 312 runs in 266 balls, including 33 fours and 12 sixes, at a strike rate of 117.29.
CSK had acquired Rizvi for Rs 8.4 crore due to his exceptional power-hitting abilities. In the UPT20 league last year, Rizvi amassed 455 runs in 10 matches at an average of over 50, with two centuries and a fifty, at a remarkable strike rate of over 188.
In T20s for UP, he accumulated 295 runs in 11 matches at an average of 49.16 and a strike rate of over 134, including two fifties.
Apart from T20s, Rizvi has also represented UP in other formats, scoring 96 runs in 10 innings in seven First-class matches and making 205 runs in nine innings in 11 List-A games.
In the ongoing match, UP posted a formidable total of 746 runs in their first innings, with contributions from Rizvi’s triple century, Rituraj Sharma’s century (132), Siddharth Yadav’s 84, and Swastik’s 57.
Adityasingh Jadeja (5/102) was the standout bowler for Saurashtra. Saurashtra ended day two at 32/2. The Colonel CK Nayudu Trophy is a competition for U23-level players at the state level.
